On Friday, April 30, 2021, the California Department of Education (CDE) sent links to local education agencies (LEAs) for the purpose of reporting compliance with the In-Person Instruction Grant. As codified by Education Code Section 43521(c)(5), LEAs must certify compliance with in-person instruction by June 1, 2021. To be eligible to retain the funds authorized by the In-Person Instruction Grant, LEAs must document the following areas.
- Offered in-person instruction for requisite student populations and grade levels in accordance with the Department of Public Health’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy including:
- For the period spanning April 1 through May 15, each date must be identified in one of three categories:
- Calendared Non-Instructional Day;
- Instructional Day, In-Person Instruction Not Offered;
- Instructional Day, In-Person Instruction Offered
- Calendared Non-Instructional Day;
- If in-person instruction as defined by Assembly Bill 86 began after April 1, the first day that in-person instruction commenced
- The final scheduled instructional date of the 2020–21 school year
- For the period spanning April 1 through May 15, each date must be identified in one of three categories:
The report must be completed and submitted to CDE on or before June 1, 2021, otherwise an LEA will find itself out of compliance. Information submitted via the online certification will be used to calculate an LEA’s August 2021 allocation of the In-Person Instruction Grant.
